What’s the Cougar Scale?
There have been popular songs and movies dedicated to them, young men dream of them, and society loves to talk about them. These women are both fabulous and fearless. They are never afraid of a challenge, instead they approach all situations with the confidence and poise of a cat. Or better yet, of a cougar.
A cougar is an experienced, mature woman that happens to prefer a younger man. She likes her men taut and firm, before they begin to suffer from the trials and tribulations of middle age. However, a cougar is not your average minivan driving, screaming child-toting, soccer mom. A cougar is a gorgeous, mature woman that has it all together. She has a career, her own interests, and knows exactly what she is looking for. She no longer suffers from self doubt or is self-conscious. The trivialities of youth no longer affect these strong, sophisticated women.
As most would agree, the young men of this generation have been raised to prefer the busty, blond twenty-something. However, the cougar is hot enough to compete with women half of her age. Not only does she carry herself with grace, she approaches her prey with intelligence and enthusiasm. These women are no sex kittens, there are experienced cougars.
While most men would never guess the cougar to be single, she is; and she is very on the prowl. The cougar has already went through a husband or two, has been burned by love, and is ready to take her mind off of past hurts. Better yet, the cougar has most likely amassed an attractive sum of money from these past relationships. This is great news for the broke college student, who generally has nothing to offer financially, thanks to their minimum wage job at the local mall.
Because the cougar is so rare and so wanted, many men wonder where to find her. The cougar can be found at the classiest club, local college bar, or other, youth filled event. You can spot the cougar by looking for these three signs:
1. The cougar is well-dressed. She will not be wearing a cheap denim mini skirt from three seasons ago. She will be dressed to the nines, showcasing her features in an alluring, yet sophisticated way. Look for perfectly coiffed tresses, manicured nails, and a woman that is perhaps overdressed for her shabby surroundings.
2. The cougar does not drink cheap beer. You can find the cougar sipping on a glass of fine wine, enjoying a colorful cocktail, or throwing back shots with the boys. The cougar not only knows good liquor, but can hold it as well.
3. Cougars are either lone hunters or travel in groups. You will not find a classy cougar traveling with a bunch of young girls. While you may occasionally spot the rare, cougar-daughter pair, cougars prefer not to compete with crowds of giggling young-ins. They enjoy the company of other experienced ladies or to claim the spotlight alone.
Once you know how to spot a cougar, you must know how to approach her. Approach with confidence, appreciating her feline-like beauty. Fortunately for tongue-tied young men, cougars do not need to be led. Let the cougar take the lead and direct the conversation. Avoid cliche conversation topics and instead impress the cougar with your broad knowledge of art, politics, and designer brands.
While cougars may be intimidating, find comfort in the fact that you can offer her what she is most attracted to, which is youth. Even men that may be lacking in intelligence, financial savvy,
and/or experience can find their very own, sexy cougar. Although most men are drawn to the cougar due to her intriguing beauty, all walk away from the experience wiser and more sophisticated than every before.
